A Letter To You, From The Founder.

First off,  I’m sincerely grateful and humbled by your interest in Uomo D'oro. I’d like to share with you a brief account of the journey that has led me to writing you this letter today.

Uomo D'oro, which is Italian for "Man of Gold", was born out of the inner journey of my soul.

In 1991, a seed of desire to become a champion was planted in my 9 year old heart through the words and example of the iconic sporting legend - Michael Jordan.

MJ was my hero because he spoke to something deep within me, which was so incredibly needed.

Looking back on it now, I realize the real reasons why I became so infatuated with basketball sneakers was because they’re a symbol of this deep seeded desire to unleash my own inner champion.

A part of me always believed in my potential. A big reason for this was because of the words and example of my hero, combined with my Mother's steadfast belief in me.

Admittedly, I haven't always lived up to that potential and I continue to work towards its fullest expression every day.

But in those moments where I wasn’t living from my own inner champion it’s taught me what I most needed to learn about myself.

As with every man, I've had my moments of failures, setbacks, regrets and mistakes. But in those hard times, I clung to words of wisdom presented to me by my hero such as, "fear is just an illusion", "do what you love" and "never give up".

These wise words and the example Jordan set for me, helped me start the journey to find my own inner champion.

Uomo D'oro is an expression of my own champion’s journey and what I have come to believe is my unique purpose to provide something for the world that people may enjoy and be inspired by everyday.

Secretly and unknowingly, it has become a means for me to continue to uncover more of my inner champion.

I see it as a fusion of my passions for sneakers, exceptionally designed luxury goods, self discovery and helping others.

All that I've learned about life to date is expressed through this brand. My intention, beyond helping men (and myself) find their inner champion, is to disrupt the luxury and sneaker markets by infusing meaning into every purchase at a level that hasn't been done before and in doing so to bring back a deeper purpose to the things we purchase.

I'm committed to standing for the values of unity, courage and compassion.

That is my intention and my promise to you. Always.
